Welcome to Cadamo, our family and our collection
Switzerland, England, France, Germany, Sweden, Spain and America. Our family is not large but we are spread out and we do love to collect things and dating back to the 1850's we have passed what we had down to our kids. As I think back there have been some heartbreaking losses of books that were left to spoil in farm buildings or discarded when someone moved country but a surprising amount was also kept and cherished.

The world has changed a lot in the past 160 years and like many others our family separated and grew apart due to wars, work and love. The earliest items we have date back to the 1860s when Italy was being unified, America was in Civil War and France occupied Mexico. Each family held on to the little bits of history that connected us and each item reflects the events that they lived through.

Great Aunt Sophie with comments who was director and co-founder of an "Asylum" in Lavigny, Switzerland that was opened in 1907 (https://notrehistoire.ch/entries/7gBZy5RDYzl) and cared for epileptic children who could not get treatment elsewhere. Now known as the Institution de Lavigny.
It took years for the idea of this family collective to evolve but we are really excited to share what we have starting with a selection of curated prints and digital downloads. Our goal is to share our journey and also to share some items that will find a space in your home or help with some projects. I know some of the angels we have discovered along the way have been used for all sorts of designs, scrapbooks, vision boards and screensavers among friends and family.

We own, scan and print everything ourselves so let us know what you like or what we can do differently and we will help if we can. If you need an image in a different format or a print in a different size we will do our best.
If you are wondering where Cadamo came from it is not a family name. It comes from the Spanish phrase "disfruta cada momento" or enjoy every moment. We are learning new things every day on this journey but the main one is to learn from the past and enjoy the now.
